The Melvins on Exclaim! TV Aggressive Tendencies
Published Aug 25, 2015Sludgy doom metal purveyors the Melvins have now been a band for over 30 years. Last year, founding fathers King Buzzo and Dale Crover revived the band's legendary sound with Hold It In, which the band took on North American roads this summer with support from Le Butcherettes, with whom they shared a special tour split release titled Chaos as Usual.
In June, we caught up with Buzzo, Crover and latest addition Jeff Pinkus before their show at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto for this episode of Aggressive Tendencies. In this interview, the trio share their thoughts about being dubbed the "Godfathers of Grunge," insights about their songwriting process and Buzzo's recent acoustic solo album. They also reveal that a 17-year-old collaboration with godheadSilo's Mike Kunka will finally see the light of day via Sub Pop Records: the first time the two Washington entities will work together. Later on, their discussion takes a more serious tone, as the members address Buzzo's controversial review of the Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary, which was released earlier in the year.
