Ginger Baker Is 'Holding His Own' in Hospital
After Ginger Baker fell "critically ill" in hospital last week, the Cream co-founder's family have shared an update on his condition.

Through Baker's Twitter account, the family wrote that "Ginger is holding his own," while thanking fans and listeners for their best wishes. They added that Baker "is receiving visit from close family & very special friends." Baker's family revealed he had been admitted to hospital on September 25. A cause of his hospitalization has yet to be revealed.

The drummer, 80, underwent open heart surgery in 2016, which forced him to cancel a run of tour dates. A fall during his recovery also left him with swollen legs and feet.

In 2013, the drummer said he had been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, in addition to chronic back pain from degenerative osteoarthritis.

Baker co-founded Cream alongside guitarist Eric Clapton and bassist Jack Bruce in 1966. Following the power trio's breakup, Baker co-founded Blind Faith alongside Clapton, Ric Grech and Steve Winwood in 1969.
