Published Jul 26, 2017Fresh off the release of I Had a Dream That You Were Mine and a subsequent live album with former Vampire Weekend dude Rostam, ex-Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser is revisiting some slightly more classic fare.
He's unveiled a cover version of Irish folk tune "The Song with No Name," originally recorded by Shane MacGowan and the Popes. The track is set to appear on an upcoming compilation dubbed Philia: Artists Rise Against Islamophobia via Floating House Recordings, aimed at promoting "the ideals of civic love and respect across America." All proceeds will go to the Unity Productions Foundation.
The record arrives on August 19 and also features tracks from Mac DeMarco, Heems and the Dodos. Pre-orders are available here.
"With so many real problems in the world, it is disheartening that the President of the United States continues to preach base xenophobia, dim-witted anger, and hate," Leithauser told Consequence of Sound. "His signature accomplishment thus far is the amplification of irrational fear and prejudice."
