Published Jun 24, 2020Earlier this year, Anaïs Mitchell, Josh Kaufman and Eric D. Johnson joined forces to form their new supergroup, Bonny Light Horseman. Since releasing their debut album, the group have had to effectively put all their touring plans on hold due to the COVID-19 crisis — but now they've announced a couple of new singles for a 7-inch titled Green/Green.
Out August 7 via 37d03d Records, the pair of singles arrive after originally being cut from their eponymous debut. Today, Bonny Light Horseman have shared one of the newly surfaced tracks, "Green Rocky Road," ahead of the record's release.
"We recorded 'Green Rocky Road' and 'Greenland Fishery' for our LP, but ended up cutting them at the last minute to keep the record simpler (and higher quality for vinyl)," Mitchell explained in a statement. "We see the songs as a bit of a pair, they both feature Eric's banjo playing and lean a little more 'Americana.' We're glad they have a home on Green/Green and are grateful to be able to share music at a time when the world is hurting."
The band released their debut self-titled record back in January this year. They formed Bonny Light Horseman back in 2018 after a chance booking at Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon's Eaux Claires festival.
