The CBC Aired 'Home Alone 2' Without Donald Trump's Cameo and Americans Lost Their Minds

The Home Alone movies are a Christmas staple, to be sure, so it made perfect sense that the CBC aired Home Alone 2: Lost in New York this week. That said, when right-wing Americans learned that a cameo featuring Donald Trump was cut from the film, all hell broke loose.

In the 1992 film, Trump interacts with Macaulay Culkin's Kevin character in the lobby of the Plaza hotel. It's a tiny cameo, and one that CBC opted to trim for its televised airing of the movie. 

"As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited for time," CBC head of public affairs Chuck Thompson told Variety. "The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot. These edits were done in 2014 when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected President."

Of course, that reasonable explanation was not enough to appease the American public, who lost their minds over the supposed "censoring" of the film.

There were also, of course, innumerable angry posts from a variety of Trump supporters online. The big man himself even weighed in, although he suggested he was "just kidding" about the whole thing.
