The producer born Jaime Meline will compose an original score for Fonzo, written and directed by Josh Trank. The film's cast includes Tom Hardy, Linda Cardellini, Jack Lowden, Matt Dillon and Kyle MacLachlan.
"Since I was 14 years old, El-P's music has been one of the most important creative influences in my life," Trank said in a press release. "There's literally no greater honour for me than to collaborate with him today and bear witness to this next stage of his artistic journey."
In a statement of his own, El-P wrote, "I'm thrilled to be a part of this movie...I'm a huge fan of everyone involved," following up on Twitter by reiterating that he's "psyched to get the chance to do this shit."
Fonzo began principal photography April 2 in New Orleans. The film does not yet have a release date.
