Published Jun 16, 2020Many live events have been forced online in 2020, from concerts to Canada Day celebrations, and that now includes fan expos. DC has just announced the details of its DC FanDome, a 24-hour fan event taking place on August 22.
DC FanDome promises to offer all the usual festivities of your typical fan expo, from cosplay to big announcements to appearances from celebs. This time around, however, the whole thing is free, and it's available across seven continents in many languages.
Among the participants are the casts and creators of Wonder Woman 1984, Aquaman, The Batman, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad, Watchmen and more. In addition to watching panels and screenings, the event will includes a fan-focused section of user-generated content, family-friendly activities for kids, comics, merch and giveaways.
Warner boss Ann Sarnoff said in a statement, "There is no fan like a DC fan. For more than 85 years, the world has turned to DC's inspiring heroes and stories to lift us up and entertain us, and this massive, immersive digital event will give everyone new ways to personalize their journey through the DC Universe without lines, without tickets and without boundaries. With DC FanDome, we're able to give fans from around the world an exciting and unparalleled way to connect with all their favourite DC characters, as well as the incredible talent who bring them to life on the page and screen."
The event is being geared for fans all around the world. There will be special presentations targeted towards different timezones, and local events tailored for specific regions.
